Exciting times… with a strong vision of who we are!

We live in exciting times.

Sometimes events happen in our lives that we may not notice at the time, but only afterwards see their significance. These events shape us in unexpected ways.

Particularly in Tasmania now, as we approach a state election. We look for leaders who will represent us and our concerns to the community. This week we look at such an event in Exodus 24. It may not appear in our memory as a notable passage or section in scripture as a significant chapter, yet it is an important one.

Here Moses and others meet with God to confirm the covenant on behalf of the people. They are the representatives who not only affirm the commitment made on behalf of the people but who love and experience a radical new form of community, one with the living God.

Blessed through book, blood and bread, they are given a vision of a new way to live for the Lord.

As we think through who we are as the parish of Clarence South, and think through God leading us, let us again capture that radical vision through the Scriptures (book), Christ’s death and resurrection (blood) and in fellowship with one another (bread).
