Advent

Sunday 3 December marks the start of Advent- the beginning of the church calendar with four weeks until Christmas.

Not only do we anticipate Christmas- celebrating the birth of Jesus- think big here: the INCARNATION- God made flesh.

We also anticipate Christ’s second coming- when He will return as judge.

That is why we have been spending time in the letter to the Thessalonians.

The Thessalonians were waiting for Jesus to return.

It was very much on their mind- as if they had their bags packed and were waiting on their front porch for Jesus to turn up!

If we are honest enough we may find that we have pushed the return of Christ further from our thinking and find ourselves living as if that is a far off reality.

Our prayer as a church is that our lives would be revolutionised by the reality that Christ will come again in glory- to judge the living and the dead.

We wait in hopeful anticipation and joy!

Come, Lord Jesus!

In Christ,

Elizabeth
