Are you ready for Christmas?

Are we ready for Christmas? This has been a frequent question in our household over the past month, as we think about organising family gatherings, presents, food, decorations, etc. There always seems to be something we’ve forgot, and have to once more endure the craziness of the shops to get it.

In our passage this morning, we are challenged by a different question; are we ready for Jesus to return? Jesus who, at the first Christmas, descended from heaven and became a baby. Jesus who will once again descend from heaven, but this time as reigning king, to put an end to evil and suffering and death.

Are we ready for this Jesus to return? What would we have forgotten? What might we rush to try and make right? Whatever that is, let’s make good use of the time we have, while we still have it.
