Waiting for Jesus

As we prepare for Advent we seek to prepare our hearts for the return of the Lord Jesus. Starting today, until Christmas we will focus on Paul’s letter- 1 Thessalonians.
1 Thessalonians 1 has key themes that help us prepare our hearts for Christ’s return.

1: Receiving the Word: not just as words but as a message empowered by the Holy Spirit.
2: Faith, Love, and Hope: Preparing our hearts involves nurturing these qualities—faith in God, love for others, and a hopeful outlook inspired by the promises of God.

3: Imitating Christ: Preparing our hearts involves striving to emulate the character and actions of Christ in our own lives, even in challenging circumstances.
4: Transformation and Action: the Thessalonians turned from their former ways to serve the living and true God.

5: Eager Expectation: The Thessalonians were waiting for the return of Jesus from heaven. This highlights the aspect of preparation through anticipation, living in readiness for Christ's return.

The overall message encourages believers to prepare their hearts by embracing faith, love, and hope in Christ, living transformed lives, actively serving God, and eagerly awaiting His return.

We will be engaging with all these areas throughout this series and I'm very excited to journey toward the end of this year with you.
In Christ,
Jamie
